Kennedy Oil is a Wyoming-based operator operating 150 wells across Wyoming. We’re focused on efficiency, integrity, and sustainable production in the oil and gas sector. As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in upstream accounting to help manage financial operations, streamline processes, and ensure accuracy in JIB, revenue, and AP–AR.
Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, supervise accounting staff, and ensure compliance with oil and gas accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This position will manage Joint Interest Billing, Revenue Distribution, and oversee Accounts Payable/Receivable workflows. You will report directly to the company leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all accounting functions, including JIB, revenue, AP, and AR
- Oversee preparation and processing of Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Manage Revenue Distribution to working interest and royalty owners, including 1099/owner reporting
- Oversee AP/AR workflows, ensuring vendors and customers are paid/invoiced accurately and on time
- Coordinate with land, engineering, and operations teams for accurate cost allocations
- Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and processes (e.g., Quorum, MS Excel, MS Access)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of oil & gas accounting experience, management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of upstream accounting practices, including JIB and revenue distribution
- Experience with accounting software used in oil and gas (e.g., Quorum ODA, or similar)
- Proficiency in Excel and database tools (Access experience a plus)
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication and leadership skills
